Wilson Phillips was formed in 1986 by sisters Carnie and Wendy Wilson (daughters of Beach Boy Brian Wilson) and long-time friend Chynna Phillips (daughter of John Phillips from the Mamas and the Papas). The trio recorded demos that caught the attention of songwriter Glen Ballard, who became their collaborator. In 1990, they released their self-titled debut album, which went on to sell over 10 million copies worldwide and was supported by a world tour. The trio returned less than a year later with Shadows and Light, which went platinum.
After several years of concentrating on solo projects and raising families, Wilson Phillips reunited to release California in 2004, and worked again with long-time collaborator Glen Ballard to release 2010's holiday-themed album, Christmas in Harmony.
Currently, the ladies are back in the studio finishing up their upcoming album, Dedicated. This latest project, which is set to release in January of 2012, promises to be packed full of their signature harmony-rich sound.
